Afrodite Bust Eclectic

Aphrodite of Milos is a marble statue 2.11 meters high and weighing about 900 kilos. The play represents a young female figure. Her torso is bare, while the garment covers her hips and legs. The figure rests on its right leg, while the left one bends forward and to the left. The torso bends and twists, giving the impression of movement, despite the static character of the statue. The person is apathetic, stern and polite. The statue was made at the end of the 2nd c. BC, perhaps by a sculptor from Asia Minor, and joins the movement of the revival of the values ​​of classical art at the end of the Hellenistic era. She allegedly held an apple or a mirror in her left hand, and a modern 3D study states that she held a spindle, spun and was a partner. Today a plaster replica of Aphrodite is found at the entrance of the Archaeological Museum of Milos, while the location of the statue is mentioned by a marble inscription.
