In Greek mythology, the son of the Athenian Daedalus, who was exiled to Crete, is mainly known by the name Icarus. Together with his father, he stayed at the court of Minos, who had commissioned the skillful and multi-skilled Daedalus to construct the Labyrinth, in order to imprison the Minotaur within it. After a while, however, Daedalus fell into the king's disfavor, who imprisoned the builder of the Labyrinth within his construction. However, he managed to escape, putting his intelligence to work. He constructed wings for himself and for Icarus, with which the two men flew into the sky and away from Crete. Daedalus arrived at Camicos in Sicily, where King Cocalus lived. Icarus, despite the advice and instructions of his father, who told him not to get too close to the sun, flew at a great height. Thus, his wax wings melted from the solar heat and he fell into the sea, which has since been called the Icarian Sea.
